The Muhlenberg men's basketball team could not complete a season sweep of nationally ranked Johns Hopkins, falling 77-65 at home.
The Mules (11-6, 6-4), who defeated the Blue Jays 84-77 when the teams met in Baltimore in December, trailed by 10 late in the first half but rallied, drawing even on a floater by graduate student
Dan Gaines 2:03 into the second half.
Muhlenberg took a 41-40 lead on a three-pointer by junior
Giovanni Rubino with 14:24 left but made only two field goals in the next 10 minutes. Hopkins, currently ranked 13th in Division III, broke a 42-all tie with a 13-3 run and led by at least eight points for the rest of the game.
Rubino led all scorers with 24 points, and Gaines finished with 16. The Mules entered the game 13th in Division III in three-point percentage but went just 5-of-20 from downtown.
