The Muhlenberg football team scored on its first five possessions and eased to a 34-21 win against Dickinson in its home and Centennial Conference opener.
The 18th-ranked Mules (1-1, 1-0) allowed only 194 yards of total offense and recorded six sacks. The Red Devils (0-2, 0-1) had three long plays - runs of 45 and 66 yards and a 36-yard pass play late in the fourth quarter - but otherwise gained 47 yards on 43 plays.
Sophomore
Joe Repetti threw for 241 yards and accounted for three touchdowns to earn his first win as a starting quarterback. He netted 208 yards in the first half alone.
Muhlenberg took the opening kickoff and marched 64 yards in 10 plays to establish an early lead. Repetti hit junior
Pelton Esannason Jr. for a 12-yard completion on third down, then connected with senior tight end
Zach Deldin on back-to-back passes to give the Mules a first-and-goal. Repetti carried the final 2 yards for the touchdown.
After the defense forced a three-and-out, Muhlenberg again put together a long drive that ended in the first of two short field goals by junior
Nick Stannard. The key play was an 11-yard reception on fourth down by junior
Christopher Ardito.
Dickinson's first touchdown drive made it 10-7, but the Mules responded with yet another long drive that culminated with junior
Aaron Daniels catching a 22-yard pass on fourth down for his first career touchdown.
Stannard's second field goal and a third-down touchdown pass of 12 yards from Repetti to senior
Thomas Jenkins made it 27-7 at the half.
Senior
Ethan Brader scored Muhlenberg's lone second-half touchdown on a 1-yard run.
Six different players recorded sacks for the Mules, including one by junior
Keshon Davila on fourth down. Junior
Isaiah Lobelo recorded 2½ tackles for loss, including a sack, and sophomore
Andrew Franklin notched a sack and combined on a TFL.
