The Muhlenberg baseball team lost 5-4 when Eastern scored a run in the bottom of the ninth.
The Mules (10-4) fell despite a strong starting effort from freshman
Jayden Barroqueiro and a dramatic home run by sophomore
Jonathan Toth.Â
Barroqueiro
(pictured above) pitched a career-high 6.1 innings and fanned seven. The southpaw struck out the side in the second and worked out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the third.Â
He left with a 3-2 lead. Muhlenberg scored once in the fourth on a two-out RBI single by sophomore
Jack Kent and twice in the sixth on a throwing error.
The Eagles (7-11) hit two home runs in the eighth to take a 4-3 advantage, but Toth blasted a home run to center field with one out in the top of the ninth to tie the score. It was the fourth home run of the season for Toth, tying him for the Centennial Conference lead.
Eastern walked off on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the inning.
Senior
Ryan Hebert and junior
Christian Schwarz each had three hits for the Mules, who had 12 hits but left 13 runners on base.
