A no-hitter and an inside-the-park home run highlighted the last day in Myrtle Beach for the Muhlenberg softball team.
The Mules defeated Albright, 9-5, and SUNY Morrisville, 16-0, to even their season record at 5-5.
The no-hitter was the 11th in program history and the first since 2014. It also was the Mules' first combined no-no. Sophomores
Raya Kunes and
Isabella Fogle teamed up to keep Morrisville without a hit, striking out 10 of the 16 batters they faced. After the first batter of the game walked, KunesÂ

(pictured above right)Â came on in the fourth and struck out the side before working a 1-2-3 fifth to complete the win.
The bats supported the stellar pitching with a pair of eight-run innings, one in the first and one in the fourth. Senior
Sarah Karmazyn had two-run hits in each frame and finished 3-for-4 with her four RBI. Senior
Kristin Oberg capped the first-inning outburst with a two-run single, and senior
Natalie Smith started the scoring in the fourth with a two-run triple, combining with freshman
Dani Roban for back-to-back triples.
Sophomore
Dara DiMaiolo had two hits in the fourth inning, and sophomore
Sabrina Reichelt scored twice in the first. The 16-0 win tied for the seventh-biggest shutout in program history, achieved most recently vs. Sarah Lawrence two days earlier.
The Mules trailed in the first game before sophomore
Gillian Zack jump-started the offense with an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the third. Zack hit a ball over the head of the right fielder and circled the bases, easily beating the relay throw home.
Freshman
Kaitlyn Buurman added an RBI single later in the inning to give Muhlenberg the lead for good.Â
Muhlenberg took advantage of Albright fielding miscues to build a 6-1 lead after five, but the Lions threatened in the sixth, with six straight batters reaching base to cut the margin to 6-4. Kunes came in with the bases loaded and recorded back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.
The Mules got the three runs back on one play in the bottom of the inning, when Oberg tripled to right-center to plate two runs and scored herself when the throw to third got away.
Kunes pitched the seventh to earn her first career save.
Buurman, Oberg, Zack, Reichelt and senior
Madison Palat all had two hits vs. Albright.
