The Muhlenberg volleyball team enjoyed its Senior Day, sweeping Washington College to keep its playoff hopes alive.
With one Centennial Conference match remaining in the season, the Mules (13-10, 5-4) are tied for fourth in the CC. They close their season at home against Franklin & Marshall (6-2) on Wednesday. Three other CC teams enter the final week of the regular season with four league losses.
Emma Eglinton, one of three Muhlenberg seniors honored prior to the match, recorded 31 assists against Washington to move into sole possession of sixth place on the program's all-time list. Her top target was sophomore
Esmae Oehler, who put down 11 kills.
Eglinton also served 3 aces, and the other two seniors,
Caleya Tereska and
Amirah Moody, had two apiece.
Junior
Alyssa Faville brought up 24 digs for a defense that held the Shorewomen (10-12, 2-6) to .070 hitting.
The Mules trailed 15-10 in the first set before scoring seven straight points with freshman
Christina Marcin serving. Muhlenberg held on to its lead the rest of the set, although Washington closed to within 23-22 before committing two errors.
The Shorewomen overcame a five-point deficit to tie the second set at 17-all before Muhlenberg pulled away for a 25-20 win.
Tereska served the first six points of the third set and the Mules were off and rolling. Back-to-back aces by Faville extended the lead to 17-5, and Muhlenberg closed out the match with a 25-10 win.
