The Muhlenberg men's basketball dominated from behind the arc and on the boards, rolling to an 83-52 win at McDaniel.
The 31-point margin of victory tied the fourth-best ever by the Mules (7-12, 4-8) in a Centennial Conference road game, topped only by a 34-point at Swarthmore in 1999, a 38-point win at Haverford in 2019 and a 52-point win at Swarthmore in 2006.
Senior
Nicholas Chudy led Muhlenberg with a career-high 15 points, shooting 6-of-8 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point range. Senior
Noah Watson (10 points, 3-of-3) and junior
Tommy McGuire (8 points, 2-of-2) were perfect on three-pointers as part of a 63.2-percent shooting effort from long distance by the Mules. Only 10 teams in Division III have shot better in a game this season.
Junior
Justin Allen added 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
Muhlenberg held the Green Terror (8-10, 3-9) to one field goal in the first 8:50, opening up a 15-2 lead. Chudy
(pictured above) scored seven straight Mule points in one stretch, driving the lane to beat the shot clock with a layup, knocking down a three and driving baseline for another layup.
It was 43-23 late in the half before McDaniel scored two quick baskets in the closing seconds, the latter after stealing an inbounds pass.
The Green Terror made the first bucket of the second half to cut the gap to 14, but McGuire banked in a three at the shot-clock buzzer on the next possession to cool off the comeback effort. It was the start of a 9-0 run, and Muhlenberg never led by fewer than 20 points for the rest of the game, building its margin to as many as 38 points on Chudy's three-pointer with 4:26 left.
The Mules had a 43-22 rebounding advantage, collecting more offensive rebounds (14) than McDaniel had defensive rebounds (11). In the first half, Muhlenberg got an offensive board on nine of its 13 missed shots.
Allen, senior
Nate Henty Brown and sophomore
Brandon Goldberg each pulled in three offensive rebounds.
Freshman
Luke Gordos finished with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
