The Muhlenberg field hockey team avoided the thunderstorms in its home opener, but Eastern could not avoid a storm of Mule goals.
Three players notched their first career goal as Muhlenberg defeated Eastern, 4-2, in a game moved up three hours due to an ominous weather forecast. The four goals were the most scored by the Mules in their home opener since 2013.
After a scoreless first quarter, Muhlenberg (1-1) broke the ice early in the second quarter off a penalty corner. After an initial shot by senior
Mallory Holson was saved, sophomore
Katie Raab put in the rebound for her first career goal.
The Mules their second goal later in the quarter when
Erin Jackson dribbled along the endline and sent a cross that went past the stick of freshman
Zabelle Aslanian and to Raab, who batted the ball inside the near post for her second goal of the game.

Maleah Hess.
