The Muhlenberg volleyball team went 2-0 on the first day of the Buttermaker Tournament, defeating Cedar Crest in four sets and Gallaudet in three.
Appearing on their home court for the first time this season, the Mules (4-2) played with great energy and received significant contributions from many players.
Sophomore
Christina Dalton led Muhlenberg with 19 total kills, including a career-high 12 in only 24 attempts against Gallaudet. Senior
Megan Ray recorded 9 kills in each match, and freshman
Brooke Shiver put down 9 vs. Cedar Crest.
Freshman
Jenna Stockfeder made her first two career starts and recorded 6 kills in each match.
Junior
Emma Eglinton finished with a double-double of 28 assists and 13 digs vs. Gallaudet and narrowly missed another one (25 assists, 9 digs) in the Cedar Crest match. Freshman
Kelsey Miller also reached double figures in assists (10) in the Cedar Crest match, adding 10 digs for her first double-double.

Muhlenberg handily won the first set against Cedar Crest, 25-15, before the crosstown rival Falcons came back to take the second set, 25-20. Cedar Crest jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third set, but the Mules scored six straight points, two coming on kills by sophomore
Isabella Pontrelli, to open up a 12-6 edge, and they went on to win, 25-17.
Muhlenberg controlled the fourth set from the start, scoring the first three points and taking a 12-4 lead en route to a 25-13 win.
The Gallaudet match was closely contested throughout, with both playing at a high level. A 5-0 run that featured three service aces by Faville gave the Mules some breathing room in the first set.
The second set was tied 20-20 before the Mules closed on a 5-1 run that included three kills by Dalton
(pictured above). Back-to-back kills by freshman
Rachel Jacobs in the third set helped Muhlenberg turn a 9-8 deficit into a 13-9 lead. Jacobs also put down a kill on match point as the Mules closed out the sweep, 25-18.
