Men's Lacrosse Rolls on Senior Day

The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team had a Senior Day to remember, toppling Washington College 14-3 for its third straight win.

The win was only the second ever for the Mules (3-3, 3-1) against the Shoremen (2-5, 1-4); the other came in overtime in 2010. One week after tying the program mark for fewest goals allowed in a Centennial Conference game, Muhlenberg did it again, conceding only one goal in each of the first three quarters and keeping Washington off the board for the final 22 minutes.

The 11-goal margin of victory was the largest ever by the Mules in a CC game. From 2003, when they joined the CC, through 2020, the Mules won a CC game by double digits only once (15-5 vs. Swarthmore in 2008). Now they've done it two weeks in a row.

Muhlenberg's 3-1 CC start matches its best ever.

One of the 15 seniors honored before the game, Ethan Grossman, also made history, scoring three goals to become the program's all-time leader with 103 career goals. Grossman, who now holds the records for career points, goals and assists, also tied a school record with his 18th career hat trick.

Sophomore Dominick Visintin, who came into the game with two goals on the season, erupted for four. He scored on a low-to-high shot just 1:25 into the game to give Muhlenberg a lead it would never give up and netted three goals in the second quarter alone. Visintin also assisted on Grossman's record-breaker with 26.6 seconds left in the half, extending the lead to 8-2. Junior Matt Marrella scored into an open net with 3.4 ticks on the clock to make it 9-2.

The Mules' defensive middies matched the Washington team's output, with senior Alexander Giaquinto scoring back-to-back goals in the fourth quarter and sophomore Andrew Sokolowski netting one for the second week in a row just 19 seconds into the second half.

Two seniors - Jack Reilly and Zachary Cooper - put the icing in the cake by combining for a goal with 26.4 seconds remaining. Reilly finished for his first goal since 2018.

Among the other seniors, Michael Fodi caused a pair of turnovers, PJ Lombara recorded a goal and an assist, Matt Burke went 12-for-18 on faceoffs, and Matt Hager and Cole Draghi were key members of a defense thart held the Shoremen to their lowest goal total in a CC game in five years.

Also honored prior to the game were Dominick DiStefano, Sam Elias, Brandon Moyer, Aaron Rudnet, Jacob Sarrel and Anthony Scozzafava.
