The Muhlenberg men's soccer team gave up early goals in each half in a 3-0 loss at Swarthmore.
Just four minutes into the game, the Mules (5-5-1, 1-4) put a goal into their own net on a failed clearance of a cross. The Garnet (9-2, 4-1) added a second goal in the 14th minute.
Muhlenberg had the better of play for much of the remainder of the first half but could not score. Any thoughts of a second-half comeback were quieted when Swarthmore scored just 1:40 after the break.
Swarthmore is ranked fourth in Region V. Of the Mules' four Centennial Conference losses, three have come to teams ranked in the region. Muhlenberg will play a non-conference regionally ranked opponent on Tuesday when it returns home to play Elizabethtown.
