The Muhlenberg field hockey team suffered a blow to its playoff chances by falling 2-1 in overtime at Washington College.
The Mules (5-9, 3-6) began the day needing to win their final two games, both on the road, and get some help in order to earn a Centennial Conference playoff berth.Â
After a scoreless first half, the Shorewomen (6-9, 2-6) scored 4:40 into the third quarter. Muhlenberg tied the game less than six minutes later off an outstanding individual effort by senior
Maleah Hess, who dribbled through three defenders and into the circle before firing a shot inside the far post. It was the seventh career goal for Hess
(pictured above) and her second game-tying goal in as many games.Â
The overtime period didn't last long, with Washington scoring just 75 seconds in.
