The Muhlenberg volleyball team had a promising beginning but ended up losing in three sets to Haverford.
The Mules (9-9, 2-4) overcame an early 6-1 deficit in the first set by going on a 7-0 run behind the serving of sophomore
Julia Ficon. A service ace, back-to-back kills by freshman
Esmae Oehler and Haverford attack errors gave Muhlenberg a 12-8 lead.
The second-place Fords (16-3, 5-1) came back to take a 19-18 advantage before the Mules scored four straight points, capped by a solo block from freshman
Jenna Stockfeder (pictured above) to forge a 22-19 edge. But Haverford responded with a 4-0 run of its own and scored the final two points of the set for a 25-23 win.
There was less drama in the next two sets, with the Fords building early leads en route to winning 25-17 and 25-16.
Muhlenberg struggled with its attack for the entire match, hitting at a negative percentage. Sophomore
Alyssa Faville led the defense with 17 digs.
