Justin Kimmel tailed a double to the right field corner with one out in the bottom of the sixth to plate the go-ahead run in the Muhlenberg baseball team's 3-2 win over John Carroll in the first of two games. The Mules fell in game two, 7-4.
Kimmel's go-ahead double came after the Blue Streaks (4-3) plated two runs in the top of the frame to tie the game. The Mules (5-2) opened the game with two runs in the bottom of the first on RBI singles from Kimmel and senior
John Serruto.
Muhlenberg trailed 2-0 in the nightcap before bringing three runs across the plate in the fifth inning. The first run came on a wild pitch and the second an error by the third baseman, before senior
Jack Avallone (pictured above) plated Serruto with a sacrifice fly to right field to put the Mules in front.
A balk in the top of the sixth plated the Mules' fourth run before John Carroll plated five in the bottom of the frame.
Serruto led the offense with three hits on the day, extending his hitting streak to five games. Classmate
Sam Arnold, who singled in the top of the seventh of the second game, has a hit in all six games he's playing in this season.
Kimmel's two RBI in the opener gave him his second multi-RBI game of the season.
