Just like the Florida sun, the Muhlenberg baseball team was hot in its first games of spring break. The Mules opened their trip with a sweep of Neumann by scores of 9-1 and 9-2, after the bats pounded out 20 hits and the pitching staff combined for 27 strikeouts.
Muhlenberg (4-1) broke open game one with a four-run sixth inning, elevating a two-run lead to a 7-1 margin. All four runs came in courtesy of Knight errors, including three on a deep fly ball that was dropped by the left fielder. Senior
John Serruto added insurance with a two-run bomb to left in the top of the seventh.
Senior
Matthew D'Ambrosia was dealing from his first pitch, fanning 13 batters – two short of his career high – in six innings of work. He retired the first six batters he faced, five by strikeouts. The righty moved into sole possession of second place on the all-time strikeout list with 197, six shy of tying the record of 203.

Truman Devitt was just as good in game two, carrying a no-hitter into the fifth inning. He finished with eight punchouts six shutout innings. The bats backed him well, scoring in five of six turns at the plate. Senior
Jack Avallone led the way with a pair of two-RBI singles, one in the bottom of the first and on in the bottom of the sixth.
Serutto and Avallone pounded out five hits apiece on the day. The former knocked three doubles and his second-career home run. Senior
