The Muhlenberg women's basketball team closed out its home schedule with a 63-35 win against Bryn Mawr.
Combined with losses by Swarthmore and Franklin & Marshall, the victory put the Mules (11-13, 9-10) into a three-way tie for the fifth and final Centennial Conference playoff spot. If Muhlenberg wins at Gettysburg in its regular-season finale on Saturday, it will clinch that playoff berth.
The Mules have never lost to the Owls (1-24, 0-20), and the first quarter made it extremely unlikely that their streak was going to end. Muhlenberg scored the first 11 points of the game and did not allow a field goal until just over two minutes remained in the opening period.
The margin was 18-5 at the end of the quarter, 25-5 a minute into the second quarter and never fewer than 14 points the rest of the way.
Freshman
Sara Peretti scored a game-high 15 points, while freshman
Jaelyn Swann added 12 on the strength of 4-of-6 shooting from three-point range. Sophomore
Tara Szawaluk finished with 7 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
All 14 healthy Mules played between 11 and 20 minutes, and 12 of them
(including sophomore Margaux Eripret, pictured above) made at least one field goal.
