The Muhlenberg women's basketball team ended its season with a 72-60 loss at Gettysburg.
The Mules (11-14, 9-11) needed a win against the regionally ranked Bullets (21-4, 17-3) to clinch a Centennial Conference playoff berth. Even with the loss, Muhlenberg could have made the playoffs with losses by Swarthmore and Franklin & Marshall, but both teams won.
Sophomore
Mikaela McGarvey, making her first start of the season, scored a game-high 23 points, while classmate
Amanda Gorski added 12.
Muhlenberg trailed only 21-20 at the end of a back-and-forth first quarter in which the teams combined to go 8-of-15 from three-point range. Freshman
Jaelyn Swann made a pair of triples in the first quarter for the Mules.
Gettysburg held the Mules without a field goal for a stretch of about five minutes in the second quarter, opening up a double-digit lead. Muhlenberg got to within seven points in the third but never any closer.
Sophomore
Margaux Eripret finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Senior
Ashley Polera (pictured above), one of six Mule seniors playing her final game, recorded 2 steals, 2 rebounds and an assist.
