The Muhlenberg women's basketball team had an odd shooting night in a 66-51 home loss to Haverford.
In the odd-numbered quarters, the Mules (10-12, 8-9) shot a robust 53.8 percent against the Fords (19-3, 16-1), who came into the game ranked 11th in Division III in field-goal percentage defense. But in the second and fourth quarters, the Mules shot just 25.0 percent.
Sophomore
Mikaela McGarvey followed up her 30-point performance on Saturday by scoring a team-leading 17 points.
Muhlenberg stayed with Haverford, which is tied for first place in the Centennial Conference, for most of the first quarter. Sophomore
Tara Szawaluk hit a three-pointer and then assisted classmate
Margaux Eripret for a layup that tied the score at 16-16 with less than two minutes on the first-quarter clock.
Haverford scored the final three points of the period and maintained its three-point lead 2:30 into the second quarter. The Mules then went on scoring drought, going without a point for more than seven minutes while the Fords extended their lead to 14.Â
Muhlenberg closed to within seven four minutes into the third quarter when sophomore
Tori Dowd drove in for a lefty layup, but Haverford hit a three on its next possession and remained comfortably in front for the rest of the game.
Eripret finished with eight points and eight rebounds, and Szawaluk
(pictured above) also scored eight points.
