The Muhlenberg women's basketball team nearly pulled off an incredible comeback but fell short, losing 60-53 at McDaniel.
The Mules (5-8, 3-5) trailed by 21 points, 49-28, with 3:46 left in the third quarter before making their move. Senior
Emily O'Mahoney started an 11-0 run with a layup and capped it with a three-pointer, bringing Muhlenberg to within 10 in the final minute of the quarter.
A three-point play by sophomore
Margaux Eripret early in the fourth quarter cut the deficit to single digits. The Mules were still down nine, 53-44, midway through the final period before going on an 8-0 run - capped by a second-chance three-pointer by sophomore
Mikaela McGarvey - to make it a one-point game with a minute to play.
After the Green Terror (4-8, 1-7) hit a pair of free throws, Muhlenberg appeared to have cut the gap to one again when senior
Ashley Polera made a baseline jumper. But after a video review, the Mules were called for an offensive foul and the basket was disallowed. McDaniel closed out the game at the foul line.
Freshman
Sara Peretti led the Mules in scoring for the fourth straight game, dropping in 19 points, 11 of which came in the second half. O'Mahoney finished with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.
