Sophomore
Margaux Eripret scored nine of her career-high 20 points in the fourth quarter as the Muhlenberg women's basketball team picked an important 68-61 Centennial Conference win at Ursinus.
The game was a rematch of last year's CC first-round playoff match, which didn't go nearly as well for the Mules: their season ended with a 57-38 loss.
This time, Muhlenberg (6-8, 4-5) prevailed in a tight game that featured 17 lead changes and was tied entering the fourth quarter.
Sophomore
Mikaela McGarvey scored 17 points, while senior
Emily O'Mahoney and freshman
Sara Peretti added 10 each.
The Mules broke away from a 41-all tie by scoring the first six points of the fourth quarter on two free throws by McGarvey, a layup from sophomore
Tara Szawaluk off a steal by sophomore
Tori Dowd, and a jumper by Peretti.
The Bears (6-8, 5-4) closed to within three, at 52-49, midway through the quarter, but another 6-0 run, starting with a three-point play by Eripret
(pictured above), gave Muhlenberg a nine-point advantage. The Mules went 8-for-8 from the line in the final two minutes to ice the win.
Eripret shot 6-of-8 from the field and added a team-high 7 rebounds. Dowd, making her first career start, finished with career highs of 5 assists and 4 steals.
