Postcards from Abroad flies from Europe to South America to catch up with Pete Luther of the men's soccer team. A business administration major and Spanish minor, he is studying in Quito, Ecuador, this semester.
What made you decide you wanted to go abroad?
I decided to go abroad to enhance my Spanish, become immersed in Ecuadorian culture, meet new people and ultimately spend a semester out of my comfort zone.
What classes are you taking? Which class is your favorite?
I am taking four classes in Spanish, which are Cultural Diversity of Ecuador, Environmental Diversity of Ecuador, Politics and Society in Latin America and my Spanish Grammatical class. My fifth class is Corporate Ethics, which I am taking at University of San Francisco of Quito. I'd say my favorite class is Corporate Ethics because I get to collaborate and interact with my Ecuadorian classmates on case studies and other assignments.
Have you been able to travel at all yet?
I have traveled to Mindo and Montañita so far. In the near future I have trips planned to the Galapagos, Baños, Cuenca and Santiago, Chile.
How have you been preparing for soccer while abroad?
I am currently training with semiprofessional team Cumbre Alta.
What do you miss miss most about Muhlenberg?
I miss my teammates, friends and the beautiful campus!
