The Muhlenberg men's soccer team fell at Dickinson, 3-1, in its final game of the regular season.
The Mules (6-7-3, 4-3-2) are the sixth seed in the Centennial Conference playoffs and will travel to third-seeded Swarthmore for a first-round game on Tuesday, November 3. Muhlenberg won the regular-season meeting, 3-0. The two teams haven't met in the postseason since 2013, and they haven't met in the CC playoffs since the 2010 championship game.
Muhlenberg fell behind the Red Devils (9-7-2, 6-1-2), who are the defending CC champions, 3-0 in the first half on a trio of goals in a span of less than 14 minutes.
The Mules scored their lone goal early in the second half off a free kick by freshman
Jake Cooke that was headed down by freshman
Ethan Buttner in the box and knocked in by graduate student
Lorenzo Vargas-Clarke. It was the second goal of the season for Vargas-Clarke, who has logged a point in four of the last six games, and the first career assist for both Cooke
(pictured above) and Buttner.
The Mules are in the CC playoffs for the fifth consecutive season; they advanced past their first game in each of the previous four.
