Bridgers, Qualben Sweep CC Weekly Honors

Muhlenberg softball freshman Cora Bridgers and senior Kristina Qualben swept the Centennial Conference's weekly awards by being named pitcher and player of the week, respectively.

Bridgers went 2-0 with a 0.44 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 16 innings in the first three appearances of her collegiate career. She pitched a three-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts vs. Eastern Nazarene, setting a school record for strikeouts by a freshman and becoming the first Mule freshman to toss a shutout in her first career start since 2010. Bridgers also hurled a four-hit complete game vs. Lebanon Valley and added two scoreless innings in relief vs. Penn State Brandywine. In the three outings, Bridgers held opponents to a .125 batting average.

Qualben hit .533 with a 1.200 slugging percentage, six runs scored and five RBI in the first four games of the season for the Mules. She had at least one extra-base hit in each of the four games, including a home run in the first two and a pair of doubles vs. Lebanon Valley.

At 3-1, Muhlenberg is off to its best start since winning the first four games of the 2014 season.
