The Muhlenberg men's basketball team fell at Haverford, 68-62, in a matchup of two of the up-and-coming teams in the Centennial Conference.
The Mules and Fords, who have been absent from the CC playoffs since 2014 and 2011, respectively, entered the game with a combined record of 15-2, 5-1 in the CC.
Muhlenberg (8-2, 2-2) led 30-28 at the half, but Haverford (8-1, 4-0) scored seven straight points early in the half to snap a 32-all tie and remained in front for the rest of the game.
Down by 10 with 6:02 left, the Mules went on a 9-0 run to cut the gap to one point when senior
Matt Gnias made a pair of free throws with 1:56 to play.
Muhlenberg closed to within one point two other times and missed a three-pointer that would have tied the game in the final 25 seconds. The Fords made three free throws from there to clinch the win.
Gnias led the Mules, who were playing their final game of 2019, with 15 points. Sophomore
Nate Henty Brown recorded his third career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and junior
Spencer Duke (pictured above) just missed his second double-double, finishing with 13 points and 9 rebounds.
