The Muhlenberg volleyball team held early leads in every set and never trailed by more than five on the night, but fell to Scranton in three sets.
Kills from seniors
Maggie Enestvedt and
Laura Boll, along with a pair of Royal errors, helped the Mules (6-10) jump out to a 4-1 lead in the first set, Scranton (10-7), however, quickly flipped the script with seven of the next eight points. Muhlenberg regained the lead as part of a 9-1 run late but fell in the set, 28-26.
Boll registered three kills to help the Mules to a 7-3 lead in the second set before the visitors chipped away at that lead ahead of a 6-1 run put them in front 16-11. Muhlenberg immediately pulled to within one at 17-16 before falling 25-23.
Again the Mules jumped out to a four-point lead to open the third set, a lead they held onto for the first half of the game. The Royals pulled within one at 14-13 before a 7-1 run gave them the lead for good.
Boll and Enestvedt led the attack with seven kills each, followed by classmate
Madison Forrest (pictured above) with six. Freshman
