Our second Postcard from Abroad of the semester takes us to Dublin, Ireland, where Shaun Bartholomew of the men's soccer team is studying. He is a media & communication major and has enjoyed the opportunity to study, travel and intern while overseas.Â
What school are you studying at, and where else have you traveled during the semester? Do you plan to travel anywhere else during the remainder of the semester?
I am currently studying at Dublin City University in Dublin, Ireland. I have been to Belgium, London and Barcelona so far and plan on visiting many more places over my next few weeks here. These will include places such as Denmark, Poland, Amsterdam and Scotland.
What is your best academic experience?Â
I was just recently accepted to work for EY as a communications intern. Having the opportunity to work with such a fantastic company and getting to study during my time in Ireland has been extremely rewarding.Â
Have you gotten any opportunities to play or practice your sport while abroad?
There are a ton of pickup soccer leagues here, so I have been able to keep up with a routine level of soccer while being abroad.
What is the main reason you decided to go abroad and what has been the best experience of the semester?
The main reason I decided to go abroad was to see what the world had to offer. Getting to meet all new people from across the globe and truly embracing myself in a culture that is so foreign from my own has been indescribable.
What do you miss most about being on the Muhlenberg campus?
What I miss most about Muhlenberg is probably the dining hall. Everything is so expensive here, and I miss getting to eat an endless amount of food whenever I like.
What would you like to say to your teammates back in Allentown?
To my roommates and friends, I hope you are all behaving and having a great spring season. Can't wait to see you all, and I miss every aspect of getting to spend each day with you guys. Roll Mules!!!
