The Muhlenberg volleyball team came back after dropping the first set to defeat Kean, 3-1, for its third striaght win.
The Mules (16-6) were led on attack by the duo of junior
Maggie Enestvedt and senior
Kelly Tornetta, who combined for 35 kills and a .363 hitting percentage. Senior
Shannon Hubert added 19 digs to her 49 assists, and sophomores
Maya Illovsky (17) and
Rebecca Shear (16) also reached double figures in digs.
After dropping the first set, 27-25, Muhlenberg jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the second set and went on to win 25-20, to tie the match.
Senior
Erica Schultz recorded four kills in the third set, including the 500th of her career, which tied the set at 7-7. An ace by Hubert and another kill by Schultz - her 501st - made it 9-7, and the Cougars (15-12) never caught up.
Back-to-back kills by Enestvedt and back-to-back aces by junior
Laura Boll gave Muhlenberg a quick 4-1 start in the fourth set. Enestvedt added four more kills and a block later in the set as the Mules closed out the match with a 25-19 win.
Junior
Madison Forrest contributed to the win with 8 kills, 5 digs, 4 blocks and a pair of aces.
The 17 kills by Tornetta
(pictured above) put her over 1,100 for her career.
