Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Hot Shooting Paces Women's Basketball to Fourth Straight

The Muhlenberg women's basketball team shot 60 percent in the first half to build a 13-point lead and went on to defeat Dickinson, 74-60, for its fourth straight win.

All four seniors scored in double figures for the 16th-ranked Mules (17-1, 12-1). Rachel Plotke led the way with 23 points, moving to within 17 points of 1,000 for her career. Recent 1,000-point scorer Brandi Vallely finished with 18 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds, while Christina Manning and Chelsea Gary scored 11 apiece. Junior Carley Hamilton pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked 3 shots.

Muhlenberg scored on seven of its first nine possessions to open up a 15-6 lead. The Red Devils (6-12, 6-7) never got closer than four points the rest of the way.

Ahead eight points in the final minute of the first half, the Mules scored two quick buckets on a lefty layup by sophomore Ashley Polera and a three by Manning to take a 47-34 lead into the locker room.

Vallely and Plotke (pictured above) were a combined 10-of-11 from the field in the first half.

A jumper and a three-pointer by Plotke early in the third quarter gave Muhlenberg its biggest lead, at 52-34.

The Mules blocked eight shots in the game, including two by Gary on the same possession in the third quarter.
