Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Rolls on the Road

The Muhlenberg women's basketball team completed a stretch of three games in five days with a 66-43 win at Washington College.

The Mules won the three games by an average of 23.7 points to improve their record to 18-1 and remain in first place in the Centennial Conference with a 13-1 league mark. They also extended their regular-season road winning streak to 15 games.

Senior Brandi Vallely led Muhlenberg with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The CC all-time leader has 625 career assists, placing her one out of the top 25 on the NCAA Division III all-time list.

Senior Christina Manning (pictured above) scored a season-high 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, adding 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Senior Rachel Plotke finished with 12 points, putting her career total at 995. She will try to join the 1,000-point club when the Mules host Swarthmore on Wednesday.

Junior Carley Hamilton pulled down 13 rebounds to help Muhlenberg to a big 51-35 edge on the boards.

The Mules trailed only twice, at 2-0 and 8-7, but had trouble shaking the Shorewomen (5-14, 3-11) until the second half. It was a five-point game, 35-30, midway through the third quarter before back-to-back threes by Plotke extended the lead to double digits. The defense did the rest, allowing Washington only three field goals the rest of the game.

Muhlenberg, which came in 15th in Division III in field-goal percentage defense, held Washington to 28.1-percent shooting for the game.
