Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Starts Strong Against Ursinus

The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team gave Ursinus all it could handle in the first half before falling behind late and dropping the game 16-10.

The Mules (2-11, 0-7 CC) scored four goals in each of the first two periods and entered halftime with an 8-5 advantage over the 11th-ranked team in the South region. Muhlenberg scored four of the first five goals and did not allow the Bears to have an offensive possession for the first 5:30 of the game.

Freshman Scott Fayan netted the first Muhlenberg goal off a pass from fellow freshman Declan Moylan. Senior Brad D'Alessandro then ripped home a man-up goal 40 seconds later to provide a 2-0 lead.

The Bears (9-4, 4-3 CC) countered with a score, but Fayan and D'Alessandro answered right back with their second goals of the game to make it 4-1 Mules. The two teams then traded goals, with Muhlenberg freshman Salvatore Sinagra (pictured above) scoring his first career goal off a long shot that looked like a pass but instead bounced in front of the goalie and into the net.

Ursinus then scored two straight to make it 6-5. Muhlenberg rallied for two more goals right before the halftime horn. Junior Niko Del Moro finished a shot assisted by Fayan, and shortly after winning the ensuing faceoff, freshman Frankie Feaster slashed through the defense and netted his second goal of the game.

Freshman Jack Colt added to the Mules' lead with his sixth goal of the season to start the second half, giving his team a 9-5 advantage. The Bears, however, went on a 10-0 run that gave them the lead. Del Moro tallied his second goal of the game with six minutes left to stop the Bears' scoring run.

D'Alessandro added two assists to his two goals to lead the Mules with four points. With 105 career points, the senior is now one point shy of tying for third place on the Mules' all-time points list and his next goal will make him only the second Mule ever to have scored 80 career goals.

Feaster led the Mules with eight ground balls and 12 faceoff wins. Freshman Frank Caterina collected seven ground balls as well, and junior Kevin Bergenty led the defense with two caused turnovers.

Junior Lance Gibson stopped 11 shots, while freshman Garrett Pope made two saves in the final 9:42 of play.
