A new twist on an old rivalry resulted in the Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team dominating the second half and beating Moravian 14-6.

The Mules (1-3) pulled ahead in the early goings before really turning it on in the third and fourth periods, scoring seven straight goals to start the half and winning 10 of 11 faceoff opportunities. Though Muhlenberg and Moravian are only separated by 10 miles, the game took place 360 miles away from either school on the campus of Christopher Newport in Newport News, Va.
With the win, Muhlenberg takes a 7-3-1 lead in the 2016-17 Matte Award standings with the next scheduled contest being a baseball game next Wednesday.

Freshman
Frankie Feaster played a huge game, winning 15 of 20 faceoffs while collecting 10 ground balls, scoring two goals and causing two turnovers. Feaster now has two games out of four in his young career with 15 faceoff wins and three games with at least 10 ground balls. He has already racked up 50 faceoff wins and 36 ground balls to start the season.

Niko Del Moro and senior
Brad D'Alessandro led the Mules' offensive efforts. Del MoroÂ
(pictured above)Â finished with his fifth hat trick of his career, while D'Alessandro collected two goals and assists. D'Alessandro now has 87 career points, moving into 10th on the school's all-time list.

Joey Hess and sophomore
Daniel Doreste each contributed two goals as well, and freshman
Jack Colt recorded three assists. Nine different Mules scored a goal, and freshman
Declan Moylan and junior
Ryan Malloy each finished with an assist.

The Mules jumped on the board early with two goals from Hess sandwiching Feaster's first goal, making it 3-0 in the first minute and a half. Sophomore
Steve Chenworth then scored his first career goal to make it 4-0 before Moravian added a goal of its own to close the first period.

Muhlenberg also scored the first three goals of the second period. Doreste tallied his goal midway through the quarter before Del Moro and D'Alessandro netted man-up goals to make it 7-1. The Greyhounds (1-1) struck back with the next three tallies before halftime.

The Mules pulled away in the second half, holding the Greyhounds scoreless for the first 26:28 of the half. Feaster and D'Alessandro each tallied their second goals of the game late in the third period, putting the Mules up 9-4. Del Moro ripped home his second goal to start the fourth period, and junior
Will Walter followed with a goal to increase the lead to seven.

Bobby McLoughlin and Doreste tacked on late goals before Del Moro netted his third score off a D'Alessandro assist to give Muhlenberg a double-digit advantage.

Defensively, junior goalkeeper
Lance Gibson saved six shots in 54 minutes to earn his first goalie victory of his career. Freshman
Garrett Pope played the last six minutes and made five saves. Senior
Tom Kellerman led the Mules with four caused turnovers.
