The Muhlenberg baseball team had a rough offensive day to open its Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach, getting shut out twice by Fredonia, 1-0 and 9-0.
The Mules (2-2) got a strong performance in the opener from junior
Timmy Pilrun (pictured above), who scattered four hits and struck out two in four scoreless innings. The Blue Devils (2-1) scratched out the lone run of the game in the bottom of the fifth.
Senior
Thomas Yohe and junior
Eric Reitmeyer accounted for the only two Muhlenberg hits off the hard-throwing Fredonia pitcher.
The second game was 2-0 before the Blue Devils broke it open with seven runs in the top of the sixth.
Sophomore
Chris Grillo had two singles for the Mules, who left the bases loaded in the first in their best chance to score. Freshman
John Serruto recorded his first career hit in the fourth, and freshman
Max Krinsky pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts in his collegiate debut.
