In its last tuneup before facing the top-ranked team in Division III, the Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team looked ready as ever, rolling to a 20-6 win against Drew.
The Mules (6-1) have won six in a row - one short of the school record - heading into a key part of their schedule in which they play their next three games against 2016 Centennial Conference playoff qualifiers. The first of those three games is against Gettysburg, newly minted atop the national poll, at home on Saturday night.
Muhlenberg clicked on all cylinders in its fourth game in seven days, jumping out to a 12-1 lead. The Rangers (5-5) scored five of their six goals in the final 8:05 of the first half, but other than that stretch it was all Mules.
Two Muhlenberg players reached career milestones and a third nearly tied a record. Senior
Stephanie D'Ascoli netted her 100th career point on an assist 8:23 into the game, and a little more than four minutes later, junior
Jordy Bonvini scored a goal forÂ
her 100th point.Â
Senior
Kelsey Nagle dished out nine assists, one short of the school record, to move into a tied for ninth place on the all-time CC list with 115 for her career. Nagle also scored a goal to become the seventh different Muhlenberg player to record 10 points in a game, climbing into eighth place on the program's all-time list with 185 career points.
D'AscoliÂ
(pictured above) finished with five goals and three assists for a career-high eight points. Bonvini tied her career high with six goals and added 10 draw controls.
Sophomore
Emma Carmody also enjoyed a memorable day, scoring three goals for her first career hat trick. Sophomore
Amanda Tullo added four points on two goals and two assists.
Senior
Sara Allison was as responsible for the Mules' big early lead as anyone, saving the first six shots she faced, including five on free-position attempts. She finished with a season-high 10 saves.
The 20-goal game was Muhlenberg's second of the season and came four days after Drew lost by a similar 18-6 score to 10th-ranked Catholic. The Mules, who entered the game second in Division III in assists per game, improved on their average by assisting on 15 of the 20 goals, missing the school record for assists in a game by one.
Freshman
Gabriella Crivelli, making her first career start, picked up a team-high three ground balls and controlled three draws.Â
