The Muhlenberg baseball team orchestrated a three-run ninth inning rally but came up just short in an 8-7 loss to Guilford.

Trailing 8-4 entering the final inning in the series opener, the Mules (4-5) started their last-inning rally with one out. Sophomore
Matt Riebesell started the charge with a single to right, and senior
Robbie Hopes followed suit with a base hit to put runners on first and third. Two batters later, pinch hitter
Billy Brittingham roped a two-run double into center, making it 8-6.

Stephen Koester then brought home pinch runner
Bobby Merle with a single to pull the Mules within one. The Quakers (11-6) however retired the next batter to seal the victory.

Hopes
(pictured above) finished the day 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI double that helped the Mules take an early 2-1 lead. Riebesell and sophomore
Chris Grillo each had two hits and scored a run, while senior
John Icaza had two hits, including an RBI single, and a run scored. Brittingham's two RBIs were the first of his career.
