The Muhlenberg men's soccer team overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit with two second-half goals and extended its unbeaten streak to five with a 2-1 win at Elizabethtown.
The Blue Jays (9-6-1), who were regionally ranked earlier this season, scored the first goal of the game in the 19th minute. It was the first first-half goal allowed by the Mules (6-7-3) since the opening game of the season - a span of more than 660 minutes (11 hours) without allowing a goal.
When the Mules gave up that first-half goal in the opener at Lebanon Valley, they scored two goals in a short span of time in the second half for a 2-1 win. And they did the same thing at Elizabethtown.
Sophomore
Matthew Athanas-Linden tied the game by heading in a corner kick from senior
Anthony Carracino for his team-leading sixth goal of the season with 31:04 remaining.
Just 3:11 later, freshman
Mark Winter converted a pass from sophomore
Pete Luther on a counter attack for his first career goal.
Winter's goal stood up thanks to the play of the defense and freshman
Lance Lysiak (pictured above), who entered the game midway through the first half and finished it out, making four saves to earn his first career win.
