Sophomore Matthew Athanas-Linden scored with just 16 seconds left in the second overtime period to give the Muhlenberg men's soccer team a thrilling 1-0 win at McDaniel.

The Mules (5-7-3, 2-4-1) extended their unbeaten streak to four with their second straight dramatic Centennial Conference road game; on Wednesday, they tied Dickinson 1-1 with just 6:07 left in regulation.

The golden goal was set up when sophomore Kevin Hagan drew a foul along the sideline with the clock, and daylight, running down. Senior Anthony Carracino (pictured above) sent the free kick into the box, where the ball made its way past several players before finding the foot of Athanas-Linden. He took a touch and shot it into the top of the net for his fifth goal of the season, allowing the Mules - who had been winless in six overtime games this season - to finally get to celebrate on the field.

Muhlenberg enjoyed a 17-12 advantage in shots in extending its unbeaten streak against the Green Terror (8-5-2, 2-5-1) to 16 games. Junior Jordan Schreer made four saves, two in the second overtime, for his fourth shutout of the season and the seventh of his career.

The Mules did not allow a first-half goal for the 14th straight game.
