Freshman
Danni Steigerwald scored her first career goal in the 17th minute, and that's all the Muhlenberg women's soccer team would need to defeat Wilkes, 1-0, for its first win of the season.
The goal came off a long pass from sophomore
Emily Jordan, who made an immediate impact after coming in off the bench in the 15th minute. Just after entering the pitch, Jordan intercepted an attempting clearing pass and shot just wide left.
A minute later, she set up Steigerwald with a long diagonal cross from near midfield. Steigerwald, who had several near-misses in Thursday's opener against Gwynedd Mercy, buried her shot inside the right post.
Freshman
Marissa D'Alessandro preserved the 1-0 lead by jumping to parry a shot over the crossbar with 14 minutes left in the first half. She finished with five saves for her first career shutout.
The Mules finished with an 8-7 advantage in shots.
