The Muhlenberg volleyball team suffered a 3-0 sweep at Johns Hopkins, dropping the sets 25-16, 25-20, 25-18.
Freshman
Maggie Enestvedt led the Mules (9-4, 1-1 CC) with nine kills and had a team-high three blocks. Sophomore
Shannon Hubert finished with 17 assists to go with five kills, seven digs and two service aces. Sophomore
Kelly Tornetta recorded a team-high eight digs.
The Mules started the first set falling behind 6-2 before a Blue Jays (7-3, 2-0 CC) service error followed by a Hubert kill brought Muhlenberg within two. Johns Hopkins then won six of the next seven points before eventually winning the set.
Muhlenberg started slow in the second set, but quickly rallied by scoring five straight points finished off with a
Madison Forrest service ace to take a 6-5 lead. The Blue Jays later jumped out 23-17 in the set before Hubert won the next three points for Muhlenberg with a kill and two straight service aces. Johns Hopkins won the next two points to take the set.
Four kills from Enestvedt contributed to a 5-2 Muhlenberg lead to start the third set, and the lead got as high as 11-5 before the Blue Jays came back to tie the set at 12-12. The teams went back and forth, with Muhlenberg's Enestvedt and Forrest coming up with a block and freshman
Tara Register earning a kill to put them up 15-13 before the Blue Jays again tied the set and later pulled away for the win.
Senior
Allison Glass made her season debut for Muhlenberg, registering a kill on three attacks in two sets played.
