Sophomore
Shannon Hubert recorded the 1,000th assist of her career as the Muhlenberg volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 win at Elizabethtown.
The sweep was the fourth in a row for the Mules (9-3), who hit .303 for the match while holding the Blue Jays to .102 hitting.
Hubert
(pictured above) came into the match needing just four assists to reach quadruple digits and got there early in the first set when she set up freshman
Maggie Enestvedt for a kill that gave Muhlenberg a 7-4 lead. She finished with 34 assists in becoming the 10th Mule with 1,000 assists and the second this year to reach a 1,000 milestone: Eleven days ago, senior
Elizabeth Garrison recorded her 1,000th dig.
Hubert also had five kills on only seven attempts. Enestvedt led the Muhlenberg attack with 13 kills, while sophomore
Kelly Tornetta added 12 and freshman
Tara Register chipped in with eight. Garrison and Tornetta finished with 10 digs apiece.
The Mules won each of the first two sets 25-17. In the second, freshman
Madison Forrest served three of her four aces in an early 6-0 run from which Elizabethtown never recovered.
The third set contained some drama as the Blue Jays were down to their final point, trailing 24-20, before reeling off the next four points to stay alive. Elizabethtown served for the set up 26-25, but a kill by Register gave Muhlenberg a sideout. A solo block by sophomore
Erica Schultz gave the Mules another match point, and an attack error by the Blue Jays ended the match.
