The Muhlenberg men's soccer team kicked off the Centennial Conference portion of the season by coming back to tie their match with McDaniel and force a 1-1 draw after two overtimes.
The Green Terror (2-2-1, 0-0-1) scored early in the first half to put the Mules (2-3-1, 0-0-1) behind despite the home team outshooting McDaniel in the first half 6-2.
The teams traded possessions back and forth until late in the second half. Muhlenberg broke through in the 80th minute when sophomore
Kiefer Cundy received an attempted clearance from a McDaniel defender and passed to senior
Jack Dusing. Dusing took a dribble forward before launching a deep ball into the box that found freshman
Pete Luther's head before going over the outstretched Green Terror goalie and into the net to tie the game.
The goal was Luther's third this season and it was the fifth assist in Dusing's career.
Muhlenberg took the only two shots of the first overtime, with a header from freshman
Kevin Hagan hitting the right post and junior
Anthony Carracino sailing a shot wide left off a free kick in the closing seconds.
The Mules would get two more tries at winning the game while holding the Green Terror to only one shot in the second overtime. Senior
Nick Sarkos had the best attempt in the period when his header with less than five minutes left was deflected by a defender into the McDaniel keeper's hands.
Muhlenberg outshot McDaniel in the game 20-8 and was awarded eight corner kick opportunities to the Green Terror's three such attempts.
Freshman
Alex Tomko played all 110 minutes in goal for the Mules, making two saves.
