Freshman
Pete Luther scored two goals for Muhlenberg men's soccer as the team won its first home game of the season by beating Drew 2-1.
With the game tied at 1-1 in the 73rd minute, senior
Andrew Bell launched a deep ball from the right side of midfield. His pass found Luther (
pictured above) in the box, who one touched it with his right foot past the diving Drew goalkeeper for the game-winning goal. Bell earned his first assist of his career on Luther's goal.
Luther scored his first career goal in the 14th minute. Winning a scuffle for the ball in the box, sophomore
Christian Wieand kicked the ball to Luther who shot it into the back right corner of the net for the score.
The Rangers (3-2) scored their goal in the 30th minute to tie the match at 1-1.
The Mules (2-3) outshot the Rangers in the first half 5-4 and withstood being outshot 4-1 in the second half.
Freshman
Alex Tomko earned his first victory in goal for the Mules, playing all 90 minutes while recording two saves.
Muhlenberg is now 3-0-2 at home against Drew since 2006.
