The Muhlenberg women's soccer team put up a good fight in the championship game of the Arcadia Invitational, ultimately falling to the host school, 1-0.
Arcadia (6-0) is a strong program that received 36 votes in last week's D3soccer.com poll. The Knights are the three-time defending ECAC champions and have won 16 of their last 18 games dating back to last season, with both losses coming to perennial national power Messiah.
The first half ended with the match scoreless and the Mules (2-2) holding a 4-3 advantage in shots, including one by sophomore
Emily Jordan that hit the crossbar. Arcadia finally broke through off a pass from the corner with 9:42 left in the second half, ending Muhlenberg's unscored-upon streak at 273 minutes.
Freshman
Marissa D'Alessandro made a career-high eight saves, including one at point-blank range in the closing seconds.
