The Muhlenberg men's soccer team fell victim to two second-half goals from Eastern Connecticut State as the Mules suffered a 2-0 defeat on the road.
Mules freshman goalkeeper
Alex Tomko made his first career start and played all 90 minutes, keeping the Warriors (1-2-1) from scoring up until the 63rd minute of the match. He made two great saves in the second half to keep the game scoreless, including a diving effort with one hand for his second save.
Muhlenberg had a chance to tie the match in the 74th minute when sophomore
Kevin Irving launched a corner kick that connected with junior
Jan Chmura (
above center) for a header shot. The Warriors goalkeeper however was able to get his body in front of the shot and make the save.
The Warriors scored their second goal of the match with less than 10 minutes left to help seal the win.
