Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Carracino Powers Men's Soccer to Victory

Muhlenberg men's soccer midfielder Anthony Carracino scored two goals, including the eventual game-winner, to give the Mules a 2-1 victory at Centenary (N.J.) to start the team's 2016 season.

Carracino first scored in the 25th minute to give the Mules the early advantage. He beat the Cyclones' goalie to a diagonal crossing pass from senior Jeff Remley and shot the ball into the open net.

Centenary tied the game with a goal off a corner kick in the 73rd minute. Seven minutes later, Mules back Patrick Bell crossed a ball into the box that deflected off the Cyclones keeper before finding Carracino's foot. The junior scooted the ball into the open net to give Muhlenberg the 2-1 lead that proved to be the final tally.

It was the first multi-goal game for Carracino, who now has five career goals. He also scored in Muhlenberg's opener last season against Centenary.

Muhlenberg outshot Centenary in the match 14-9 and took eight corners compared to the Cyclones' five corner attempts.

Sophomore Marshall Hanyon played all ninety minutes in the net for Muhlenberg and saved one shot in his Mules debut.

Freshmen Matthew Athanas-Linden and Pete Luther also started for Muhlenberg in their first collegiate action, while sophomore Brian Heckman and freshman Kevin Hagan also played their first minutes for the Mules.
