Men's Lacrosse Runs Past Moravian

The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team enjoyed its best offensive day of the season, scoring 10 first-half goals en route to a 15-7 win at Moravian.

Senior Peter Zipf, who came into the game with a career total of two goals, led the offense by scoring five times. Junior Brad D'Alessandro (four) and sophomore Niko Del More (three) also recorded hat tricks, with sophomore Joey Hess adding a pair.

The 15 goals were the most scored by the Mules (2-3) in a road game in three years and came just four days after the team was held to four goals in a loss at Lebanon Valley.

Hess opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game, and Zipf (pictured above) and Del Moro each scored twice in the first quarter, which ended with Muhlenberg holding a 6-3 lead.

The Greyhounds (3-1), who are in their first varsity year since reinstating their program, scored in the final seconds of the opening quarter but did not take any momentum into the second quarter: The Mules netted all four goals in the second, added one early in the third to extend their lead to 11-3 and remained comfortably ahead the rest of the game.

D'Alessandro's third four-goal game of the season included his 40th career goal. Sophomore Will Walter had a pair of assists, and freshman Daniel Doreste scored his first career point on an assist.

Sophomore Jake Solomon was 16-of-25 on faceoffs and picked up a career-high 12 ground balls.

Senior Kyle Larkin made 10 saves in goal, and freshman defenseman Nolan Robbins caused two turnovers to go along with four ground balls.

The win extended Muhlenberg's lead in the 2015-16 Matte Award standings to 10-2.
