Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Wins Second Straight

Box Score

The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team reeled off eight straight second-half goals and defeated Lycoming, 11-5, for its second straight road win.

Senior Steven Casella and sophomore Niko Del Moro each scored a pair of goals for the Mules (3-3), who have won back-to-back games away from home for the first time since 2007.

The game was tied 3-3 at halftime before Muhlenberg dominated the third quarter and most of the fourth, keeping the Warriors off the board for a span of more than 33 minutes. One of the keys to success was possession: Freshman Brandon Miller was 10-for-11 on faceoffs, including eight wins in a row during the decisive second-half run.

Del Moro (pictured above) scored the go-ahead goal off a pass from Casella less than four minutes into the third quarter. The Mules' man-up unit then scored three straight goals, one apiece by junior Ty Weisberg, Casella and Del Moro, to extend the lead to 7-3. Sophomore Will Walter completed the third-quarter surge with a goal just four seconds before time expired.

The run continued into the fourth, with junior Brad D'Alessandro netting his Centennial Conference-leading 17th goal of the season 66 seconds into the new period. Just 30 seconds later, after Miller won another faceoff, sophomore Timmy Brennan made it 10-3.

Junior Jack Brennan capped the scoring with his first career goal at the 9:51 mark.

Lycoming, which scored its third goal with 6:51 left in the first half, did not get its fourth until 3:03 remaining in the fourth quarter. Senior Kyle Larkin made eight saves in tying his career low of five goals allowed.

D'Alessandro and sophomores Joey Hess and Ryan Malloy each contributed a goal and an assist.
