Stymied for most of the game on offense, the Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team scored three goals in the last 5:31 but came up one short and fell at Lebanon Valley, 5-4.

The defense allowed a season-low five goals and forced 19 turnovers to keep the Mules (1-3) in the game. Senior Kyle Larkin made 12 saves, while sophomore Kevin Bergenty (pictured above) caused two turnovers and picked up three ground balls. Fellow defenseman Jashon DeSenna, a senior, scooped up four ground balls.

The game started out well for Muhlenberg. Sophomore Jake Solomon won the opening faceoff, leading to a goal by junior Brad D'Alessandro just 52 seconds in. A long dry spell followed, however, with the Dutchmen (2-1) scoring the next five goals to take a 5-1 lead midway through the fourth quarter.

D'Alessandro began the comeback effort by scoring his second goal of the game, and his team-leading 12th of the season, with 5:31 on the clock. Solomon won the ensuing face and dished off to freshman Stephen Chenworth, who passed to sophomore Joey Hess for the Mules' second goal in eight seconds.

A rip to the back of the net by senior Steven Casella with 36.8 seconds left made it 5-4. Muhlenberg won the faceoff but could not get a potential game-tying shot off before time expired.
