Junior Brad D'Alessandro scored a career-high five goals, including the game-winner, as the Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team came from behind three times to defeat Centenary, 12-8, for its first win of the season.

Senior Steven Casella added four points on two goals and two assists, and sophomore Ryan Malloy also scored a pair of goals for an offense that scored a season-high 12 goals against a Cyclone goalie who is the reigning Division III defensive player of the week.

The Mules (1-2) trailed 3-1 before Casella and D'Alessandro scored man-up goals 21 seconds apart in the first quarter. Centenary (2-1) netted the next three goals to open up a three-goal advantage early in the second quarter, and again Muhlenberg came back to tie on a goal by D'Alessandro with 2.6 seconds left in the first half.

The Cyclones went ahead 7-6 on a goal two minutes into the third quarter but managed only one goal the rest of the game as the Mule defense tightened up. Back-to-back goals by D'Alessandro sent the teams into the final period tied at 8-8.

D'Alessandro's fifth goal of the game, with 10:56 left, gave Muhlenberg its first lead at 9-8. Malloy, Casella and senior Peter Zipf added goals in the fourth quarter to enable the Mules to pull away.

Sophomore Jake Solomon (pictured above) had an outstanding game in the X, winning 16 faceoffs (one short of his career high) and scooping up nine ground balls.

Sophomore Will Walter and junior Ty Weisberg also scored goals for the Mules. Sophomore Kevin Bergenty picked up three ground balls.
