Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

LaRose Explodes for 30

Box Score

Junior Brandon LaRose scored a career-high 30 points and sophomore Nick Rindock had a double-double to support one of the best offensive efforts of the season as the Muhlenberg men's basketball team won for the third time in the last four games, 81-72 at Ursinus in its Centennial Conference finale.

LaRose (pictured above) led the team from start to finish by shooting 10-for-14 from the field and 9-for-10 from the line to double his previous season high. He is the first Mule to record a 30-point game in more than two years.

Rindock added 13 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. He also tallied three steals.

Despite an early second-half rally by Ursinus (11-13, 7-10), the Mules stepped up their game when it mattered the most. Trailing 64-62 with 4:53 remaining, sophomore Jon Schreer hit a three-point shot to put Muhlenberg (11-13, 8-10) on top by one. Junior John Hunter (12 points) made a jump shot about a minute later and made two key free throws with 3:10 to go.

With the Mules leading 74-70 with 52 seconds left, LaRose blew past two defenders and made a huge layup to extend the margin to six.

On the offensive side of the floor, Muhlenberg shot 44.8 percent from the field and 81.3 percent from the line. The Mules also held the Bears to 35.6 percent shooting from the field and 26.5 percent from three-point territory.
