Junior
John Hunter led three Mules in double figures with 15 points. Senior
Alec Stavetski, making his first start of the season, added 13, and junior
Brandon LaRose scored 11.
Neither team led by more than six points until the final minute in the back-and-forth contest, which featured eight ties. The final one was with 4:09 remaining, when the Fords (4-17, 2-12) made two free throws to knot the score at 62. Muhlenberg did not allow a point the rest of the way.
LaRose was fouled while driving to the basket and made two free throws with 1:10 left to put the Mules (9-12, 6-9) ahead to stay. On the next possession, junior
Jon Schreer stripped a Haverford player who was driving through the lane. He was fouled and made one of two free throws with 45.5 on the clock to extend the margin to three.
LaRose and sophomore
Owen McLeod combined to go 4-for-4 from the line in the final 33.9 seconds to seal the victory.
The Mules played outstanding defense down the stretch, allowing only 13 points in the last 12 minutes, and they shot 55.6 percent from the field in the second half.
Schreer
(pictured above) finished with nine points and four assists, and sophomore
Nick Rindock recorded nine points and nine rebounds. LaRose added five assists to his 11 points, and sophomore
JeanLee Baez pulled down eight rebounds.
