Women's Basketball Wins Third Straight

The Muhlenberg women's basketball team jumped out to a big lead early against Ursinus and never gave it up, with a collective team effort leading to an 82-65 home victory.
 
Thirteen different players scored for the Mules (7-2, 5-1 CC), with junior Chelsea Gary leading the charge with 11 points to go with a team-high nine rebounds. Gary tied her career high in blocking five shots as well.
 
Muhlenberg also tied its season-high total with 25 assists in the game. Junior Brandi Vallely distributed a season-high 10 assists to lead Muhlenberg, her program-best 17th game with at least 10 assists.  She also finished with eight points, five rebounds and two steals.
 
The Mules held the Bears (4-5, 3-3 CC) to 24.3 percent shooting in the first half while jumping out to a 49-27 halftime advantage. Up 17-8, a Vallely jumper started a 10-0 run for Muhlenberg over the final three minutes of the first period and gave the team a double-digit edge for the rest of the contest.
 
The defense pressured Ursinus into 22 turnovers for the contest and came away with 17 steals while blocking eight Ursinus shots.
 
The home team shot the ball well throughout the game, making an even 50 percent of its attempts while shooting at a 57.6 percent clip in the first half. Muhlenberg also made 50 percent of its three-pointers (7-14) for the third time this season.
 
Sophomore Sara Dilly also scored in double figures, pouring in 10 points in 16 minutes along with dishing out three assists.

Freshman JulieAnne Martin made three of five shots for eight points in eight minutes off the bench to lead Muhlenberg's non-starters in scoring. She made two of her three triples. Sophomore Meghan Falk (pictured above) also drained two three-pointers, finishing with six points in seven minutes.
 
Freshman Emily O'Mahoney and senior Maggie Zerbe each contributed seven points, with Zerbe also finishing with a team-high four steals.
